The Dinosaurs

Marco loves dinosaurs. We went to the dino museum a few months ago, and he actually set up dinos around and made his own museum- then made us walk through it. We slipped out of work early one Thurs. to take them in March. Did you know that Brontosaurus are no longer called that? (So much for the Flintstones bronto burgers!)

Open Wide

On Wed. Sarah had her first dentist visit. I was dreading it, I was expecting lots of tears and many meltdowns, but the staff at her Ped office was so great, she suprisingly loved it! Marco even wanted a check up, and has one scheduled soon, even thought I hadn't planned on him going at such a young age... but since he WANTS to go who am I to stop him? Stickers galore, calling floss silly string, and rides up and down on the chair... this sure is not how I remember the dentist! Thanks Dr. Hanna!

It's been a long time...

I don't even know where to begin, life was too busy and I abandoned this blog. But because I am not a scrapbooker or good record keeper- I really need this to remember the great details of life... Too much has happened to try to pick up where my last post was, so I will just start with today...

Sarah make 22 Valentines for her preschool. I hate crafts. I was fine with buying whatever cards the local store sold and pass them out with their generic "be mine" lovies. However, not Sarah. When she first declared that she wanted to make them, I said "No, we'll just buy them". She looked shocked. Appauled. In her little four year old heart, the store bought ones were not good enough. So I felt horrible for the suggestion, went out to buy construction paper (I don't even know where they sell it- thanks Five Below for coming through!), glue, and hearts and she got busy. Like really busy. After each heart got glue she'd ask "Mommy, is this enough glue?". Then she got busy writing her name and making a smiling sun in each one. My job was to tape a lollipup in each one after. I admit, it was really sweet that she did it. She kept saying how much everyone would like them. Then she decided that her friends at school like hearts and so she went to work making hearts. It was all so sweet. Marco even made her a valentine and she was thrilled.

Marco is turning three this week! I can't believe it! Really what I can't believe even more is that he has been potty trained. And as of last week, no diapers in the night either! woo hoo!! Tomorrow is his family little party. Like really there is only a few of us, but I don't care- I really went out of my way to make it special. I called every bakery and finally ordered a football shaped cake from the Priory. Then I searched hi and lo at every store I could think of to find his beloved football guy topper to put on, as he has wanted a guy on top of his cake sooo bad. Then I found a dinosaur pinata. But what the heck do you put in it when you don't let your kids eat crap? I am exited to see his face for it all.

Halloween

Halloween came with much anticipation from all of us, and it was a blast. Though Sarah has a lot of costumes to choose from, the cheerleader is what she picked. (She was too scared to go with anything else). I hope that Ron and Donna (who bought it for her) are happy to know that this was chosen over the Steeler one! Marco went with the Lion.

It is pretty close to impossible to get a photo of both looking at the camera and smiling together...

Marco's first Trick-or-Treat

Rah-rah-rah!

Checking out the loot... Sarah had fun playing with her candy. Yes, just playing with it. Poor thing has parents that didn't let her have even a taste of candy. Luckily, she didn't even ask nor think anything of it. I doubt we can get away with it again next year, and fully expect all goodies to be gobbled up immediately.

Ohiopyle

Today we dropped everything, and went to gorgous Ohiopyle. We had a wonderful day, with perfect weather. The beauty of the Laurel Mountains this time of year is so impressive with the changing leaves on the trees.

(side note: this bridge over the Youghiogheny is where Chris first told me he loved me when we were dating)

Summer's End

Sarah loves going to the store Garden Ridge to look at Halloween decorations... She calls it "The Big Store". I can't believe they have Christmas out in September! If you are oddly in need of a black Christmas tree, they have it here...

Marco started crusing this past week, and is fearless with his newfound mobility.

Battle wounds on the forehead: the lovely bruising that comes with crawling...

Sarah checking out the end of summer deals...

I'll take this photo as a hint that he is ready to eat...

Dress Up

We went to get professional photos of the kids the other day. The photographer suggested prior to the shoot for the kids to wear matching solid colors. (Did you know that prints on clothes takes away from their faces? Neither did I?) I actually went out and bought something for Marco for the occassion. (I know, I know... frugal-penny piching-all money must be saved for the kids- cheap mom broke down and didn't use a hand me down for this one!) On the shopping trip, I was bummed that I couldn't get a cute sweater vest because they all had prints on them. But, I ended up loving Marco's button down shirt so much that Chris is surprised I ever took it off him. Who says buying for boys is not as fun as it is for girls?
